Covid-19

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Advice on suspension of services in response to Covid-19

At Madni Masjid Dewsbury, we have been following the advice of the government in relation to the coronavirus outbreak. We are acutely aware that our community is disproportionately at risk from the virus because of the higher numbers of individuals with long term health conditions. Many of the families in our community will have at least one member who may be vulnerable either through coronary heart disease, diabetes or some other form of long term health condition. Thus the virus can have a much more serious and potentially fatal effect on such individuals.

We have taken guidance from our esteemed scholars, medical practitioners and carefully looked at the guidance from the government in formulating these social distancing procedures in order to prevent the spread of the virus. With all the advice the committee, in agreement with Moulana Saab, have come to this decision, which has not been taken lightly. Therefore we are taking the following line of action with an immediate effect:

a) Mosque to suspend the congregational five daily prayers

b) Mosque to suspend the congregational prayer on Friday

c) Mosque and madrasas to suspend all madrasa activities

d) Janaza prayers will be performed at the cemetery

We urge everyone to take the necessary precautions to stop the spread of the virus. We will review this situation daily and make a further announcement in due course.

Thank you.
