Ramadhan 2020

Ramadhan 2020

We will welcome the blessed month of Ramadan in very difficult time as the world is facing an unusual challenge, with the spread of coronavirus [COVID-19]. Ramadan this year will be very different, it will be at a slower pace due to the lockdown. It will give us more time for reflection and the opportunity to be closer to ALLAH swt.

Without the masjid and the community in lockdown, we will need to find an alternative mechanism to keep our Iman strong as mosques are closed and we will not be able to attend congregational prayers during this blessed month.

However, we can still do these prayers and worships with the family at home, this will hopefully give us the same reward, In sha Allah.

Ramadan at the time of the Sahaba would look very different. No large community iftars, no taraweeh. They would pray Isha in the masjid and then return to their homes to pray Qiyaam ul layl.

This Ramadhan will be a time for deep reflection for us all, to try and reconnect on a personal level with our Lord and creator, Allah swt. We need to understand the purpose of Ramadan, increase our tawakul, re-evaluate our duas, read and contemplate the Quran more, spend in the way of charity for those less fortunate then ourselves

Zakat

The best charity, the best zakah and the best sadaqah is to be given during the holy month of Ramadan. Feeding the poor and needy people is highly recommended in Ramadan, therefore Donate your zakat towards the countries we are supporting that are affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. Your donation will be used to help those in desperate need. (When donating please use “ZAKAT” as a reference or “SADAQAH” – “Lillah” as appropriate)

On the last day of  Sha’ban, Prophet Muhammad PBUH, gave a Khutbah about the upcoming month of Ramadan.

It begins: “Oh people! A great month is coming to you. A blessed month. A month in which there is one night that is better than a thousand months. A month in which Allah has made it compulsory upon you to fast by day, and voluntary to pray by night. Whoever draws nearer to Allah by performing any of the voluntary good deeds in this month shall receive the same reward as is they are performing an obligatory deed at any other time. And whoever discharges an obligatory deed in this month shall receive the reward of performing seventy obligations at any other time. It is the month of Sabr (patience), and the reward for sabr is Heaven. It is the month of kindness and charity. It is a month in which a believer’s sustenance is increased. Whoever gives food to a fasting person to break his fast, shall have his sins forgiven, and he will be saved from the Fire of Hell, and he shall have the same reward as the fasting person, without the latter’s reward being diminished at all.

Madni Masjid will announce the start of ramadhan after Majrib prayer on Thursday 23rd April, once Moulana Abdul Rashid Rabbani Sahib has consulted with the Moonsighting committee.
